Coping Skills Class - January 7 - February 11, 2019 - Thompson

The coping skills class is a class designed to help people struggling with symptoms of anxiety and depression cope with their thoughts. The group begins by learning how to set achievable goals and work mindfulness practice in their daily life. Next they learn how to identify unhelpful thoughts and how to challenge them. The facilitator provides education on how anxiety/depression affects our brain and bodies and how medications work. The group has in depth discussion of sleep hygiene strategies, discussions on nutrition and alternative methods of coping. There is also learning on effective communication strategies and self-care planning.

This class is appropriate for ages 17 and up. Classes are on January 7, 14, 21, 28 and February 4 and 11 and will run for 6 weeks in a row and then re-start for a new session.
